To clean Erin Mae's roof yesterday, I removed the various long objects that generally stay up there. A gentle drop to the grass, with backspin applied, and everything was deposited safely. Except for the long pole. Don't quite know what happened, but one end hit the ground before the other, there was a snap and one long pole became two short poles. Oops. Silly me.
So it was another trip down to Alvechurch, because the marina's chandlery had one in stock. At 12 feet it's standard length, but 2 feet longer than the old one. And considerably longer than my best beloved.
As I write this another Pole has just appeared. Jerzy Janowicz is on centre court preparing to play Andy Murray. Wonder which of them will break first.
